Course Description

Domestic violence and child abuse affects millions across the United States.  Although the term "domestic violence" can be limiting, it has been proven that there is a direct link between domestic violence and child abuse. You will often be the only chance a victim, whether adult or child, may have in getting help and feeling safe. One in four women and one in seven men have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. In addition, one in fifteen children are exposed to domestic violence each year. Not to be forgotten, law enforcement officers are not excluded from these statistics. It is estimated that at least forty percent (40%) of law enforcement families also experience domestic violence in their home.
