Course Description

This training is intended to prepare the participant to comprehensively examine a school's physical environment for crime vulnerabilities. Utilizing Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, coupled with Situational Crime Prevention and the Rational Choice Theory, this course provides a unique understanding of how the
environment impacts crime in the school or university.  This course provides an easy to use customizable foundational survey tool to begin to identify vulnerabilities, suggest solutions, and prepare a comprehensive report.  This training provides practical suggestions for K-12 institutions as well as applicable information for addressing college and university settings and dorms.  A prior working knowledge of CPTED is helpful. 

Students should bring a laptop computer and digital camera if available.  A group assessment exercise will be included in this course.
