Course Description

The scope of this seminar will cover International Terrorism issues, Domestic Terrorism issues and the changing faces of violent extremism. Scheduled presentations include: 

  • Salafi Jihadism: Understanding How It Relates to Terrorism (FBI) 
  • Social media and Propaganda (NCTC) 
  • "BeTA" - The SBI's Successful Behavioral Threat Analysis Program (NC ISAAC) 
  • "Unite the Right" - James Robert Fields and the Charlottesville, VA Case Study (FBI) 
  • "Studies in Violent Extremism" - Deputy Director Seamus Hughes, Program on Extremism at George Washington University 

Additional training will include:

  • Pertinent N.C. Case Studies
  • NCTC's Homegrown Violent Extremist Mobilization Indicators
  • The Bystander Effect in Counterterrorism
  • A Domestic Terrorism Overview for North Carolina
  • An NC ISAAC overview and description of resources
  • A RNC-2020 overview and a panel discussion on issues of concern to participants
