Course Description

This is an advanced supplemental course to the manufacturer's Instructor and Master Instructor courses. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of Conducted Electrical Weapons (CEW) not provided in the manufacturer's instructor courses. It is based on one of the most comprehensive CEW programs in the country that was predictive of Village of Pinehurst v Armstrong (4th Cir. Appeals) and Yates v Terry (4th Cir. Appeals).

Training confusion and capture errors specific to Conducted Electrical Weapons (CEW) and their liability are provided. Detailed Circuit Court of Appeals cases are reviewed. Medical/technical research, and selected cases of misuses and abuses of CEWs that highlight foreseeable risk management are also covered. Training research that affects the instruction of CEWs, policy, and force management are given.
