Course Description

Provides an overview of the manufacturing of non-metallic structures. Emphasis is placed on composite materials technology, fiber and resin properties, lay-up and curing procedures, tooling concepts, used during repair, fabrication and/or replacement of damaged composite components.  The program module areas include health and safety, history of composites, matrix systems, fiber reinforcements, composite design considerations, composite equipment, sandwich construction, methods of assembly, composite fabrication and repairs and nondestructive testing.

Upon completion of the Composite Technology Level 1 program, students should be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of
advanced composite structure fabrication and repair methods, materials, and application techniques and be prepared to enter industry at an entry level position.
