Course Description

This training is intended to expand upon the concepts and principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design learned in the basic course. The course will provide a more detailed examination of the specific environments and tools needed by law enforcement to successfully serve as a CPTED Practitioner.

Recognizing that the primary role that law enforcement serves in the application of CPTED is conducting security assessments of homes and businesses, this course makes efficient use of the training hours to address those specific needs. As such this course provides tools most valuable in conducting security assessments, and only briefly touches on schematic plan review.

Specifically, this class will provide students with included security assessment tools to aid in their work of conducting security assessments in specific environments.  These tools will be demonstrated and are designed to guide, not replace, the knowledgeable assessor. The tools are most useful in time savings during the report writing process.  The course will take a deep dive into understanding the most cost-effective devices and measures useful to the modern law enforcement student's constituents, to further guide the assessor to make appropriate recommendations.
